Union of Nova Scotia Mi’kmaq Requests Meeting Regarding Tripartite Forum Funding

March 5th, 2026

On behalf of the Union of Nova Scotia Mi’kmaq, we have sent a letter to officials expressing our concern about the Province’s decision to eliminate total funding for the Tripartite Forum for the 2026–2027 fiscal year.

The letter outlines all background information and details our concerns regarding this decision. Given the critical role of the Tripartite Forum in fostering collaboration between the Mi’kmaq of Nova Scotia, the Province, and the Government of Canada, we are requesting an opportunity to discuss this matter further.

Douglas Brown, Executive Director of the Union of Nova Scotia Mi’kmaq, and Chief Leroy Denny of the Assembly of Nova Scotia Mi’kmaw Chiefs are prepared to meet at the earliest convenience to address this important issue.
